sep logo Southeast Polk's mascot is the RAM, which is an acronym taken from Runnells, Altoona and Mitchellville - the three original communities with high schools that consolidated to make the Southeast Polk school district in 1961.
Southeast Polk, located on the east edge of Des Moines, is at Iowa’s recreation center. The popular theme park, Adventureland, and the state’s only horse racing facility, Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino, are located in the district.
